Cabinet Construction Details
The fundamental elements of cabinet construction play a significant role in the overall quality of cabinetry, impacting both functionality and aesthetics. Every single aspect of the construction adds to the style, utility, and durability. Let’s take a look at the key elements that define our superior craftsmanship at Roth Wood Products.
Key Elements of Roth Wood Products Cabinet Construction
We use four key elements for all our cabinets:
Euro Hinges (Soft Close)
Also referred to as European Hinges or cup hinges, these hinges offer a sleek appearance since they remain out of sight when cabinets are closed. They are installed on the interior side of the cabinet door and frame and are therefore not visible from the outside.
In addition to their concealed design, they also offer adjustability in terms of door position. The use of adjustment screws makes it possible to adjust the door position vertically, horizontally, and in-and-out. As such, it is easy to operate the doors smoothly and properly align them.
All our Euro hinges offer a third benefit – a soft-closing mechanism that prevents slamming. The doors automatically close gently, minimizing potential noise.
This type of hinge offers a seamless look ideal for a contemporary aesthetic and is therefore one of the most popular in new constructions and remodels.
Undermount Drawer Slides (Soft Close)
These refer to a drawer slide system that sits underneath the drawer box, designed to facilitate smooth opening and closing. It is concealed inside the cabinet, under the drawer, completely out of sight. The absence of visible hardware on the exterior therefore provides a clean and seamless feel.
Besides the sleek appearance, the slides have roller mechanisms on which the drawer glides effortlessly in a smooth and quiet movement. They have a high weight capacity, offering the perfect amount of stability to support heavy loads. This makes them ideal for use in a variety of settings including kitchen and file cabinets.
Our standard undermount drawers have two distinct features. First, they all support soft-closing, and second, they offer full extension. Full extension means that you can pull the drawer out fully for easy access and visibility.
Dovetail Drawer Boxes
The most distinctive feature of dovetail drawer boxes is the use of dovetail joinery. This is a process that involves making precise wedge-shaped cuts on the corners of complementary drawer box pieces. The two are then interlocked to form a remarkably sturdy and aesthetically appealing joint. These beautiful joints derive their name from the fact that they resemble a dove’s tail.
The decorative detail and structural integrity of these joints make the dovetail drawer boxes a popular choice for high-end cabinets. They have a timeless appearance that effortlessly blends with any décor.
To add to the appeal and quality of our cabinets, Roth Wood Products uses prefinished maple plywood for all pullouts and drawer boxes, unless otherwise indicated.
Pre-Finished Maple Interiors
Another hallmark of our cabinet construction is our pre-finishing process, a step that preserves the high quality of all our products and enhances their visual appeal. The process involves finishing the interior surfaces of our cabinets with a protective coating prior to assembling the pieces.
We do this so as to protect the wood from moisture damage, stains, and scratches. This step gives all our cabinets a consistent appearance, a signature look that defines our commitment to quality. It makes cleaning and maintenance of your cabinets a breeze and prolongs their life.
Integrated Finger Pulls (Optional)
With our integrated finger pulls, you can say goodbye to unsightly knobs and maintain the sleek and seamless look of your cabinet doors and drawers. As the name implies, these pulls are integrated into the seamless design of your cabinet doors and drawers to maintain that clean look while offering functionality.
They consist of a small, recessed area that blends with the design and promotes uninterrupted visual flow, eliminating the need for protruding handles. Despite being minimalistic and understated, they add tons of functionality, making it easy to pull the doors and drawers open. We use the same material for the cabinet as well as the finger pulls, for consistency purposes and to ensure durability.
In addition to the obvious aesthetic appeal, this feature also minimizes the risk of accidental bumps for young ones and the elderly. It also supports easier maintenance than when using knobs. There are plenty of customization options to suit your design preferences and the overall design of your cabinets.
While all of the previous elements are standard features of our construction process, the use of integrated finger pulls is optional and comes at an added cost.
Convenience Features
One of the standout aspects of our custom cabinetry is the variety of convenience features we offer, designed to enhance your daily experience and optimize functionality. From pull-out pantry shelves and hidden waste bins to integrated charging stations and spice rack inserts, these thoughtfully designed features bring effortless organization to your space.
Each convenience item is crafted with the same attention to detail as the cabinetry itself, ensuring a seamless look and high-quality finish. These features are not only practical but also add an extra layer of customization, reflecting our commitment to creating cabinetry that works perfectly for your lifestyle.
